Dear Hiring Committee,
I hope you are doing well. My name is Mohamed Ibrahim, and I am writing to express my interest in the Lab Coordinator position with the Center for Connected Learning and Computer-Based Modeling.
I am excited about this role because it combines organization, communication, technology, and support for educational work. I am especially interested in helping manage internal lab communications, coordinate meetings, support publication tracking, update websites, and provide administrative support for lab projects.
I believe I would be a strong fit because I have experience managing details across multiple teams and responsibilities. As President of Northwestern’s North Area Council, I coordinate about 10 community dinners per quarter for 500+ residents, set agendas, lead meetings, and work closely with advisers and RA staff. As Finance Chair of the Middle Eastern and North African Student Association, I help manage $11,000 in quarterly ASG funding for a 186+ member organization and coordinate with 7 committees across 6–7 large-scale events per quarter.
I am also comfortable learning new tools and technical systems. In the Schatz Lab, I use Python, Unix job scripts, ORCA 4.2.1, and high-performance computing clusters to support computational research. This makes me confident that I can learn tools like Google Suite, GitHub, EndNote, HTML, and website systems quickly and carefully.
Beyond technical and organizational experience, I care deeply about education. I launched the Neuroscience League, the first initiative introducing Egyptian high school students to neuroscience. Through information sessions and online documentation, we mentored 40 students, with 27 accepted into neuroscience programs. That experience taught me how important clear communication and strong educational systems are.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be grateful for the opportunity to support the Center for Connected Learning and Computer-Based Modeling.
Best, Mohamed Ibrahim
